NVR Parent referral form
One-to-one support for parents/guardians/carers of young people experiencing issues with alcohol or drugs, or other problematic behaviour in the home.
Many parents are telling us that their home life is very stressful with constant rows, damaged property or even physical injury – and are deeply saddened that this aggression is coming from their child. Parents report that sometimes they feel afraid, or feel they have no authority in their own home - that the young person ‘rules the roost’. This conflict can be to do with screens, money, school or drug and alcohol use, and parents often withdraw from supports as a result. MaCYSS provides support for parents/guardians struggling to manage conflict and changes in family dynamics using the non-violent resistance (NVR) model.
NVR aims to reduce conflict and aggression on the one hand, and on the other, to repair the relationship between the parent and child. The other main aim is to restore parental authority without resorting to punishment and consequences which in turn lead to further escalations.
NVR aims to bring stability to the family and supports parents to lead their family out of the harmful patterns that have developed in their home.

Making healthy choices 1
Decisions made in the early teenage years can have a significant impact on a person’s long term
health and wellbeing. Young people who stay physically active, have healthy and nutritious eating
patterns and get enough sleep are more likely to be happier with their lives and be healthy and
well in adolescence and in the longer term.

TUSLA Meitheal Toolkit
The Tusla Meitheal Toolkit is intended for use by practitioners using the Meitheal Tusla-led Early
Intervention Practice Model for all agencies working with children, young people, and their
families in conjunction with the Tusla Standardised Meitheal training. It provides direction,
guidance, and advice on all stages of the Meitheal process and can be used as a route planner
for undertaking a Meitheal effectively.
